1738 Peter Wheeler came with his wife, Hannah Colburn, and children from Bedford, Mass. to West Dunstable.  He served in the French and Indian War in the Crown Point Expedition of 1755.  He died at the homestead in 1722 (S>H> pg. 36)

 

1780 Ebenezer Wheeler, a son of Peter, married Azubah Taylor and they resided here.

809** Johnathan Taylor Wheeler, son of Ebenezer, married Esther Spaulding.  Although his father lived until 1817 and his mother died in 1853 over 100 years old, he early took his place as head of the family.  Capt. Wheeler's farm often was awarded the first prize at the Hillsborough County Fair as the best managed farm in the county. (Little p. 150, 203) .   It remained in the Wheeler family nearly 150 years.

 

c. 1863  Elizabeth Hayden Woods (Mrs. John L. Woods) was the next owner.  Elizabeth Hayden was married in 1863.  Her father, Samuel Hayden, bought the farm and gave it to his daughter.

 

1927 or before Anthony Moilis or Molis owned the farm.

 

1948 John Molis, son of Anthony, gook over the place and has been restoring the house which was in bad shape. 

 

1954 John Molis was there in 1954.

 

This house was built about 1804** by Capt. Jonathan Taylor Wheeler.  It was a fine specimen of colonial architecture with hand-carved wainscotting, hand-wrought hinges, and stencilled walls in three rooms. (BH No. 80 - DAR I)

 

1858 F.D. Shores & E.T. Montague owners in 1958.
