BOB GOULD
Bob is a collector of postcards of railroad stations and can tell you about them all across the US. He is also a great story teller. Bob Gould knows legends and history in Hollis, particularly in the north end of town where he lived on the Gould Farm at the corner of Silver Lake and Plain Roads. There were two ponds at that intersection one of which he helped fill in. These ponds are referred to in the very early history of the town. There was a shop near them at which Valentine Harris and the Kendrick brothers worked. The legend of the cannon house and cannon is also located at that corner warning the north end of town that the British were coming. There is also the legend of the queen’s necklace and Pennichuck Pond.

He was interviewed April 3, 2002 about Woodmont Orchard, the area around the ponds, the ice business, the cider mills, other mills, wooden plates and early farming including strawberries. Be sure to check this CD out of the library and hear Bob tell these stories.
